Activity Overview
Lower Austria is the cradle of Austrian viticulture, so we want to hike with you through the beautiful forests and vineyards of the Vienna Woods, located in Austria's Thermal Region, just south of Vienna. Home to traditionally quaint wine villages and some unique local varietals, we showcase the finest in farm-to-table Austrian wine tours.

As we walk through forest trails in the foothills to the alps & lush green vineyards on their southern facing slopes, we'll stop en route for wine tastings and to appreciate the beautifully expansive views of the Vienna basin.

On your private tour of Austria's Thermal Region, you'll discover a whole new world of wine alongside your dedicated native English-speaking guide.

Being a private tour, we will hike entirely at your group's pace, and you can contact us via our website if you would prefer earlier or later start times.

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Pass By: BahnhofCity Wien Hauptbahnhof, Vienna Austria

The tour meeting point is Vienna's main railway station, where we board a train southwards (approx 30 minutes) to the Vienna Woods.

Pass By: Beethovenhaus Baden, Rathausgasse 10, Baden 2500 Austria

We begin our hike in the lovely spa town of Baden, once a favourite country retreat of Beethoven. We meander through the classic 'Biedermeier' village centre and its gorgeous parks before hiking along forest trails towards a magnificent elevated viewpoint which overlooks the Vienna basin & Wienerwald in all directions. This spot alone is a photographer's dream!

Stop At: Gumpoldskirchen - Das Schloss / Historisch wohnen & Feste feiern, Kirchenpl. 4, 2352 Gumpoldskirchen, Austria

We then enter the vineyard landscape, wandering through row upon row of lush green vines. As reward for our efforts, we'll take a break sat among the vines, for an open-air wine tasting at a local producer (summer), before continuing to the picturesque wine village of Gumpoldskirchen to replenish our energy at one of its traditional Austrian wine taverns. Over lunch we'll have a wine tasting (winter). Once fully recharged, you may consider a quick visit to the village wine museum in your free time before we move to our second wine tasting at one of the village's finest producers. This is led by a local winemaker and includes a fascinating guided visit to their wine cellar, showcasing the centuries old traditions of Austrian wine making.

The tour ends with a short train ride back to the city centre. You'll arrive to your hotel in plenty of time to freshen up before dinner, the opera, the theatre, or the concert! Whichever it is, you'll sleep well that night!
