Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain

Discover an incredible natural area in the outskirts of Barcelona on a half-day hike through Barcelona’s green lung, the Collserola Natural Park, followed by a truly authentic Catalan ... morelunch. From Plaça Catalunya we'll use a clever combination of public transportation (train, funicular and minibus) and will soon arrive at the top of the spectacular Mount Tibidabo. From here you can admire the views over the entire city of Barcelona and out to the sea. After spending some time taking in the impressive vistas, we’ll take a few minutes to visit the beautiful Templo del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús (the Temple of the Sacred Heart), which was built between 1902 and 1961 and is right at the peak of Tibidabo. Once you’ve had your share of the amazing city views, we’ll leave the bustling metropolis behind and your guide will lead you into the tranquil natural park of the Collserola.

The 1.5 hour light hike through the forested trails is easy and extremely pleasant. It’s hard to imagine that you are so close to a huge city! Along the way you’ll learn about the flora & fauna of the area, as well as about the history and culture of Barcelona, Catalunya and Spain. We’ll pass under the Torre de Collserola (the Collserola Communications Tower), which was built for the 1992 Olympics and is the highest “building” in Barcelona, at 288 meters (945 ft.) high. Your guide will be equipped with delicious snacks to be enjoyed at an interesting stop along the way.

At the end of our trail, we’ll come across a restaurant housed in a traditional 16th century masia (stone farmhouse) where we’ll enjoy a fantastic lunch of classic Catalan fare. One more chance to keep learning about local culture, while enjoying the food, the wine and the views (all the way to Montserrat, the “serrated mountain”, if the weather is clear)! Lunch will be followed by a short and convenient downhill walk to the rail station, where we’ll catch the train that will take us directly back to Plaza Catalunya in just 20 minutes. Magic!

The price of this all-inclusive half day tour is 70 EUR / person for a small group tour where there could be up to eight guests in total along for the day. Included in the price are the public transportation fees, a very knowledgeable and personable, English-speaking guide, a great restaurant lunch, snacks during the hike and bottled water.

Important
There would be a surcharge of 15 EUR / person if you end up being the only two guests on a non-private day trip. Although this is not likely (especially during the months of April through October), it would be necessary in order to cover the guide fee and expenses that would normally be covered by having more than two guests on the trip. We do not cancel our tours if we don't reach a certain minimum, but we do charge this minor surcharge if we end up with just two people.

Beer and Chocolate: A match made in Belgium! Looking for something different than your typical beer tasting tour ... then you are in the right place! Werner offers unique historical ... moreand fun beer walks in various different cities and regions around Belgium. Werner offers guided culinary walking tours through Belgium's historical cities, focusing on his two passions: chocolate and beer. Werner can craft a tailor made tour focusing on either beer and/or chocolate. On your tour you'll be sure to visit authentic beer pubs, breweries and artisan chocolate crafters.

Using anecdotes, Werner plays out the touristic features and at the same time, brings tour participants to authentic pubs where they can taste special local Belgian beer, possibly combined with a chocolate praline. This is not the typical tourist trap walking tour! Tailor made tours are available in all Belgian cities.

A little more about Werner: It’s hard to meet a more authentic Belgian. His two biggest passions are chocolate and beer. He has found a way to fuse Belgium’s most famous products into interesting chocolate and beer pairing tastings. Werner has truly found a hole in the market. His years of experience as a as a chocolatier for the world famous Callebaut Belgian Fine Chocolate and his knowledge of beer as a beer sommelier make him an expert in both fields.

Werner's philosophies: Craftmanship is an art. Passion is everything.

Beer and chocolate have a lot more in common than you would think! If you think of beers like porter and stout, they both have that chocolate aroma, just from the combination of malt, yeast and hops. The similarity of beer and chocolate lies within their complexity, in their flavours but also in production and the ingredients.

Werner has found out that you can perfectly pair artisan beers and fine chocolate pralines, providing a delicate flavour harmony. Or even more interesting: find contrasting flavours in beer and chocolate to strengthen both their subtleties.

After a lot of research, Werner now organises interesting beer and chocolate tastings all over Belgium. His knowledge and expertise in beer and chocolate is impressive!

Hit the surf in the morning and spend your afternoon enjoying great South African wine! This is definity an epic way to see the Cape Stock and make gnarly memories!... more

Start your day with an invigorating surf* at the famous Surfers Corner on Muizenberg beach, where the shore of the Cape Peninsula curves round to the east on the False Bay coast. It’s considered the birthplace of South African surfing, and the endless waves are perfect for beginners and seasoned pro’s alike. Had enough of the view yet? Next you’ll check out the Mariners Wharf in Hout Bay, another cool local offering where the seals are friendly and the locals always welcoming. If you’re lucky, the dolphins will be surfing in the waves and the whales frolicking in the bay. From Hout Bay you’ll wind your way over to Beau Constantia where the view of False bay is second to none. The farm is high up the slopes of Constantia Nek, overlooking False Bay to the east with vineyards stretching to 350m above the very waves you surfed that very morning. Looking for a day filled with Gothic and Modernist art, architecture, astounding rock formations, unbeatable views and exceptional food and wine tasting - look no further! ... more

Our Montserrat and Wine Country day tour is a well-rounded, all-inclusive, all-day experience for travelers of all ages and interest levels. The day begins with a guided visit at the impressive Monastery of Montserrat, located 50 minutes west of Barcelona and standing at an unexpected 725 mts. / 2378 ft. above sea level.

This tour consists of a 1000 years of legend, history and culture. Legend has it that in the 9th century, shepherds claimed to have spotted the image of the black Madonna in a cave on Montserrat. The original carving was discovered and removed by local religious figures, and the first church, followed by the monastery, were established in the 11th century. By the 12th century, news spread far and wide of the miracles of Montserrat. The monastic community settled, which prompted pilgrims from around the world to flock to the sacred mountain, as they still do today. The Monastery of the Virgin was founded in 1025, reconstructed various times, destroyed by Napoleon in 1811 and rebuilt in the late 19th and early 20th century by the Catalan Modernist masters, including Gaudí, himself. It is, in fact, one of the key inspirations to Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia.

The day includes: hearing the famous Boys’ Choir perform (most days), visiting the “Moreneta de Montserrat” (one of the black Madonnas of Europe) and a light walk to Santa Cova, where the black Madonna is said to have originally been found and rescued. We leave Montserrat and head over to enjoy a fantastic lunch of local Catalan country cuisine in a traditional restaurant at the base of Montserrat, followed by private field tour, guided exclusive visit and three-product wine and cava tasting at one of the premier, small, boutique vineyards in the Penedès wine region.

Montserrat and Wine Country Day Tour consist of only 2-8 guests and are guided by one of our fun, informative guides who give you a great, detailed explanation of the history of Montserrat, as well as the history of the region of Catalunya. The tour can easily be catered to both young and old, to those with or without specific religious interest, and to both wine connoisseurs and wine ‘enthusiasts’. A truly fantastic and authentic day trip outside of the city during your visit to Barcelona!

Important
There will be a surcharge of 15 EUR / person if you end up being the only two clients on any non-private tour. Although this is not likely (especially between April and October), it would be necessary in order to cover guide fees and other costs that would normally be covered by having more than two clients on the tour. The positive side of the supplement is that you would end up getting a private tour at a fraction of the normal private touring price!
