Fantastic Trip! You folks really have this bike trip thing down. Every aspect of the trip was great..."
Overall Experience
I have just returned home from our wonderful trip to Eastern Europe and wanted to tell you how pleased we were with all your arrangements. The service on the ground was really amazing. Tom was always easy to reach with the cell phone that was part of our gear, and more than accommodating. The hotels that we stayed at surpassed our expectations in every case. And the breadth of exposure to Czech history ... more and culture was lovely. And best of all, the GPS kept us on the straight and narrow most of the time.

Cruise the Danube the right way … on a small elegant boat, drinking four fine Hungarian wines while taking in one of Europe’s most memorable skylines. ... more

Pair A Danube River Cruise With Four Fine Wines
Budapest’s Danube bank is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with extraordinary architecture lining both sides. You’ll see it all up close on this 1.5-hour cruise … the perfect introduction to Budapest and the wines of Hungary!

This private cruise (during which the boat will be chartered solely for your party) is available daily at any time (subject to availability). Let us know your preferred time when booking and we’ll do our best to make it happen. Our small mahogany luxury boat (which can comfortably hold up to ten participants) has a closed cabin with leather seating, as well as an open platform. Because it’s small, you’ll be much closer to the water than on the typical tourist boats (which we’ll be speeding by!).

Viewing Budapest’s architecture from the middle of the river is the best way to do it. You’ll see sights such as Margaret Island, Parliament, the riverside “Shoes” sculpture, the
Hungarian Academy of Sciences,
Vigadó Theater, Central Market Hall, the Palace of Arts, the National Theater, the Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion, Matthias Church, and the Gresham Palace.

This cruise is equal part sightseeing, and equal part wine tasting. Your guide will fill you in on what you are seeing, as well as on what is in your glass: a curated selection of good Hungarian wines, paired to complement the stunning views. Feel the wind in your hair and the spray of the river, while tasting delicious wine and seeing fairytale-like scenery. There will be plenty of great photo-ops to take advantage of … away from the crowds!

One-way transfer, with hotel pick-up and drop-off, and transportation by a professional driver.

Travel Between Budapest and Bratislava ... with Wine!
If your trip will include visits to both Budapest and Bratislava, why not make the most of your travel time between the two cities by sampling the wine and food and exploring the regions between the two cities. Rather than taking a bus or train from Budapest to Bratislava (or Bratislava to Budapest), let us pick you up and drive you there … while stopping at a few wineries and visiting some of the charming towns along the way.

The route will take us along the Danube, from northwestern Hungary through southwestern Slovakia. This area holds several wine regions, on both sides of the border, the largest cathedral in Hungary (Esztergom), some pretty Baroque towns, and a massive fortress system that spans both sides of the border. We can taste wine on both sides of the border (so you can compare and contrast). Save time on travel planning and logistics by being transported door-to-door between Budapest and Bratislava … and experience the wine country along the way!

Learn to Cook Hungarian Style!
Spend the evening cooking with a local chef in our open kitchen. This event is jointly hosted by our chef (a professional who has worked in many Budapest kitchens) and our sommelier. The casual cooking class—which is punctuated by plenty of wine tasting—culminates with a dinner party as we sit to enjoy the fruits of our labor together, along with a few perfectly paired wines.

Starting with a glass of wine and some nibbles of local artisan cheese and charcuterie, our chef will start by going over the game plan. Over the course of the evening you’ll learn about Hungarian culinary traditions, how the locals work with important local ingredients, and signature (and seasonal) Hungarian flavor combinations. You’ll prepare a meal composed of traditional Hungarian recipes and the chef will discuss the most important Hungarian dishes and techniques, giving you the confidence to go home and prepare your own Hungarian feast. While the menu may vary, it will feature a variety of dishes from beloved home-style classics to more elegant restaurant-style dishes.

We believe that wine and food are best enjoyed together, so our sommelier will pour samples of different wines throughout the evening so you can taste (and learn about) a range of Hungarian wine. It is a dinner party, after all! You’ll be working as a group to prepare the meal (there are no individual cooking stations), so you can contribute as much (or as little) to the meal preparations as you’d like. Dinner should be on the table at around 9pm.
