Activity Overview
Discover the latest revolution in winemaking; on this private, full day tour you will learn about organic and biodynamic farming practices in South Africa. Learn more about this sustainable and eco-friendly way of winemaking as you meet the winemakers, ducks, horses and bugs that make this unique practise possible.

Start your day at Avondale Wine Estate, a picturesque, biodynamic 160-hectare farm that’s over 300 years old. Upon arrival you will visit the Tasting Gallery where you can enjoy a glass of Avondale’s biodynamic wine. From there, you will depart on a one-of-a-kind 4×4 Eco Wine Safari through the biodynamic vineyards. During this educational drive, you’ll get your hands dirty and learn first hand about how biodynamic farming works and how it creates harmony in nature.

The second stop on this wine tour is Joostenberg. Joostenberg has been home to the Myburgh family for 5 generations. The current generation takes their role as custodians of the property very seriously and have been farming their vineyards organically for several years. Guests will be joining Tyrrel or Anette Myburgh for a tour of their boutique cellar, followed by a tasting of their delicious, organic wines.

Hop over to Klein Joostenberg Bistro for traditional French bistro cuisine where they strive to recreate the essence of simple, good food in everything that they prepare. Seasonal menus feature hearty, robust dishes made from scratch, using regional farm produce.

Your final stop is to Reyneke organic wine estate for a vineyard walk and learn about natural predators (to snails).

You will depart this tour feeling nothing short of inspired by nature and the efforts put forth by farmers of the Western Cape.

Don't have the whole day to spend tasting wine in Stellenbosch, Paarl & Franschhoek, this is the tour for you! Pick up at preferred location or hotel and drive through the Durbanville ... moreHills Wine Valley,
nestled in the Tygerberg Hills, a mere 20 minutes drive from Cape Town. With its hectares of flourishing vineyards, award winning wines and hospitable atmosphere, this wine valley is fast becoming the Cape’s destination of choice.
Situated on the cool slopes of the Dorstberg, with Table Mountain as backdrop, Diemersdal Wine Estate provides the perfect setting for the production of unique, soulful wines where you will experience your wine tasting followed by a lunch with flavours of the countryside and the relaxing farm ambiance in an old stable, restored with care by the Louw family, where they’ve been making wine for six generations.
Here locally grown and regionally sourced produce inspire Chef Martin De Kock to blend his classical French training with the flavours of Provencal France, Spain and a touch of Asia. The herbs and some of the vegetables are from the kitchen garden, the preserves and pickles home-made and the bread freshly baked.
Drive back to preferred location for drop-off.

This tour can either start at 9am until 2pm (after lunch) or alternatively from 12pm to 5pm.

Explore sustainability with our enlightening Green Tour The Cape is a Mecca for anyone who has a taste for environmentally sustainable and ethically produced wine and boasts some of ... morethe world’s leading organic and biodynamic producers like Reyneke and Waterkloof.

The Cape is a world pioneer in IPW – Integrated Production of Wine – a compulsory standard aimed at reducing reliance on herbicides and pesticides, keeping wine production as natural as possible. Our Green Tour will allow guests to explore and discover some of the most sustainable wine farms in South Africa.

This has been supplemented by the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative (BWI) which has received recognition for the South African wine industry as leaders of global wine in demonstrating the balance between nature and farming by driving conservation-minded farming practices.

Meanwhile, South Africa is the largest producer of Fairtrade wine globally, with 24 producer organizations, and accounts for around two- thirds of Fairtrade wine sales.

This tour focuses on environmentally friendly activities, conservation, and sustainable farming practices. It is for those who have a preference for the natural, the twitches, the flora & fauna fanatics, organic and biodynamic enthusiasts, or those want to experience something different, energizing and inspiring.

The Cape boasts a growing number of organic and biodynamic wineries who have shown that quality and alternative farming practices are not mutually exclusive and can improve quality and complexity.
