Activity Overview
Full-bodied red and white wines from some of the greatest and highest rated wineries in all of Spain served in exclusive cellars with a gourmet lunch of fresh, local delicacies.

After picking you up from our central meeting point at 8:30am, we'll drive 1h 45m to the incredibly beautiful and rugged Priorat wine region, with it's steep hills covered from top to bottom in craggy vines. First on the agenda is a visit the tiny village of Morera de Montsant to take in the stunning views at the foothills of Montsant. From here you will be able to get an overview of the entire region and your guide will give you a bit of an orientation. Afterwards, we'll duck into a small winery for a three-product tasting of terrific Priorat wines.

The next stop is the village of Gratallops, where we will head for a private tour and tasting at the renowned Clos Figueres winery and estate. This winery is run by Christopher Cannan, who is known for being one of the first in the region (along with Alvaro Palacios, Rene Barbier and Josep Lluis Perez) and is quite a charming character. Their wines are produced with their own grapes from old vines, without watering the vines and without using insecticides or any other synthetic products. While there, you'll enjoy a fantastic, traditional lunch in the winery.

After lunch, we'll drive to the tiny village of Porrera to meet with Paco Castillo-Serrano of the family-run Clos Dominic winery to tour their beautiful vineyards and taste their fabulous vintages. This old-vine vineyard (with many vines over 100 years old) was purchased by Paco and his wife, Dominic, in 1998 when they began to fulfill their dream of creating their own wines. To this day, they manage and harvest their vineyards with help only from family and friends. Once we finish our visit and tasting with Paco, we'll begin the drive back to Barcelona, arriving to the city around 7-8pm.

This price of this all-inclusive small group day trip is 190 EUR / person. Included in the price are transport in one of our modern touring vans, a very knowledgeable and personable, English-speaking guide, a great traditional lunch, and generous wine tastings at three fantastic wineries. This day trip is more expensive than our D.O. Penedes tour because the Priorat region is much more exclusive than other Catalan wine regions and as a result, the winery visits and meals are more expensive, as well. Winery visits and tours are always private and are nearly always attended and/or led by the wine maker. Additionally, as you may already know, the wines in this region are more expensive due to the extremely harsh growing conditions, low-yielding vines, and harvesting carried out by hand, which is very labor-intensive, but the wines...and the day...are well worth it!

There will be a surcharge of 15 EUR / person if you end up being the only two clients on any non-private tour. Although this is not likely (especially between April and October), it would be necessary in order to cover guide fees and other costs that would normally be covered by having more than two clients on the tour. The positive side of the supplement is that you would end up getting a private tour at a fraction of the normal private touring price!

We could not a have chosen a better thing to do on our last day in Barcelona. We met with 2 other couples and Jose, who did a fantastic job of teaching us about the region and wines of the Priorat. The wines we tasted were spectacular and the people we met at the vineyards and wineries could not have been nicer and more passionate about their wines. Jose went out of his way to make sure everyone of ... more us got everything we needed to have a great day. He supplied us with more delicious food than we could possibly eat to pair all the wines with. The wonderful lunch was over the top and again more than enough to eat. The only problem is that we only had room to bring home 2 bottles and the memories of the other 10 wines we tasted will have last until we come back to the Priorat. It is such a beautiful part of Catalonia and the wines are so good that I'm sure we will take this tour again when we return to Barcelona in 2019. Whether you are in Barcelona now or planning a trip, this is one experience not to be missed. And even if you don't drink wine, after tasting these wines you will realize what you have been missing in your life.

Thank you so much for this remarkable review. It sounds like you had a fun day in Priorat! It gives us great satisfaction knowing how much you've enjoyed your day tasting different wines of the region and everything it has to offer, it truly is beautiful. We can’t wait to take you on this tour again in 2019!
What a spectacular day. With our small group of eight, led by our guide Sam, it was wonderful to see the landscape as we traveled out of the city on our full day tour to the lovely area of Priorat. The small wineries we visited were amazingly hospitable and shared their passion for the land and their product. The lunch was outstanding, with delicious food accompanied by the winery’s finest. All along ... more the way, Sam provided commentary about the history of the area and its many features. This tour is well worth it for the experience you receive. A must for those who love great wine and great food.

With a dream to make tangible research become alive and living history. Combing tours and food experiences, this project aims to financially support non-profit Mozaika, a cultural ... moreJewish platform, and act as a conduit to explore Jewish heritage through gastronomic experiences, family traditions and the unique 1000 year old Jewish legacy in Cataluyna.

Set the heart of Barcelona’s old Jewish Quarter, Toldot brings you the magic of Casa Adret, a 13th-century palace-house. Atmospheric and enchanting, this award winning architectural gem showcases ancient walls, high ceilings, rooftop terrace with views of Barcelona. Entering its walls is a shortcut to the Middle Ages, and dining in its space is a truly rare and special opportunity. Once Jewish home, Casa Adret is now Mozaika’s Hub, a Jewish Cultural and Research centre where activities range from gastronomic experiences, concerts, debates, book festivals, cultural activities and more, bringing much needed cultural revival to Barcelona’s ancient Jewish quarter.

By booking a tour or dinner, you are financially supporting the running of Casa Adret, Mozaika and reviving Jewish life in Barcelona.

Monica, from Mexico City, was raised in a Syrian Jewish family, and Eva, from Melbourne Australia, with the Askenazi Polish connection. The duo explore Jewish gastronomy through family heritage, traditions and Jewish food legacy. Inspired by the way our mothers and grandmothers have always cooked for us, abundantly and with love, Monica and Eva believe that by sharing a table, we can create a shared experience of our past and celebrate each others individual histories.

Gothic Tour
Our tours have been developed by Mozaika members, historians and researchers, to bring rigorous investigation and explore the lesser know histories of the Catalan Jewish story. Duration 1.5-2 hours.

The Gothic Tour walks through the Jewish community of the Middle Ages, 11-14th century. We’ll walk through the gothic Jewish quarter and “El Call", where you can discover its history, important figures and Jewish life at the time. You’ll meet a poet, a doctor, a coral merchant, a great debate and glimpse Mediterranean trade. The tour includes exclusive access to Casa Adret, a medieval house once owned by the Jewish family of Astruc Adret until the riots of 1391, now head quarters and research centre of Mozaika.

Jewish gastronomy is as vast and different as the countries that we come from. Food in Judaism, is immersed in tradition and in religion. We want to take you on a tour of the flavours of our mothers and grandmothers: their secrets, stories, textures, festivals. Every recipe has a story, which will unfold while we cook together, at the same time as share the history of the magical space we are in, Casa Adret. After preparing a traditional recipe, we will have a vermut on the terrace, with views of Barcelona’s old city, and share the fruits of our recently cooked recipes and more!
