Douro Tour The Douro region, located in the north of Portugal, is one of the most beautiful in the country. Born in Spain and flowing between the banks of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, ... morecrossing the entire wine region, the Douro River gives its name to the region, with its 850 km long is the jewel that characterizes this unique landscape.

Region marked by the Douro River and its tributaries is a hallmark of the famous Port wine. The recent construction of dams along the river course made it navigable, passing through three elevations of 14, 22 and 35 meters. We will observe one of these differences in operation during the passage of a cruise through these dams.

The Alto Douro Wine Region's wine-making activity and its unique landscape have been considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In fact, the Douro is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world, being classified in 1756 by the Marquis of Pombal to ensure the origin of the quality of this unique wine.

With landscapes considered as one of the best in the world by international tourism magazines, this region offers memorable moments.

We will cross the N222 section between Peso da Régua and Pinhão, which has been declared the 'World Best Driving Road', the world's best driving road, winding along the Douro River and the vineyard slopes. Unforgettable!

We will visit a Port Wine Farm and have the opportunity to see the landscape at the Casal dos Loivos Viewpoint which has been awarded one of the best views in the world by a BBC travel program, with the view of the Douro river we will taste a Portuguese sparkling wine.

The city of Amarante is located on the banks of the river Tâmega, one of the main tributaries of the Douro river.

This region began to gain importance and visibility after the arrival of St. Gonçalo (1187-1259), which settled here after pilgrimage through Rome and Jerusalem - the construction of the bridge over the Tâmega River is attributed to this saint.

In the century XVI was ordered to build the São Gonçalo Monastery in his honor. The monastery is a masterpiece that remains immaculate to this day and certainly deserves your visit.

In addition to a rich architectural heritage, there is a relevant gastronomic heritage with typical sweets from this region.
