Activity Overview
Combine the pleasures of visiting three of the most historic neighborhoods of Paris - the Marais, Jardin des Plantes (Latin Quarter), Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the discovery of each quarter’s hidden vineyard, with the joys of cycling.

During the Middle Ages, Paris was covered with vineyards and produced wines that were renowned throughout France. The vineyards on this tour, unknown to most, will take us into the heart of medieval Paris. There is an almost mystical link between the living vines of today and those of the past. As you cycle over this historic ground, the medieval landscape comes to life as you are invited to imagine another time.

From the vineyards of the Hotel Royal St-Pol, through the King’s botanical garden, the Abbey Saint Victor and the Halle aux Vins to the Roman Arena, the Clos Bruneau, the Clos de Laas and the village that was once Saint-Germain-des-Prés, we develop a comprehensive overview of medieval Paris and begin to see the city with different eyes.

We will taste various wines along the way that will connect you with this rich past, bringing into focus the spirit of Paris. Come with us for an exceptional visit and explore another aspect of the role the vine still plays in the urban landscape. Exclusive wine tastings reflecting the flavors of the grapes planted here, accompanied by personally selected hors-d'oeuvres will complete this unique outing.

Frequently Asked Questions
The tastings include a minimum of two wines and generally three. The wines selected vary from one tour to another as they always correspond to the vines planted in the vineyard we have visited. Though these are wines made in other regions of France, and NOT the wines produced in the vineyards themselves (access to these wines, with the exception of Montmartre, is very limited and production too small to allow for public consumption), they still connect us to the grape varieties we have seen and also allow us to connect to the spirit of wine.
All of the wine bars and wine shops we visit feature organic, biodynamic and ‘natural’ wines as we are committed to living wines with real taste that don't give headaches and also preserve soils, reducing CO2 emissions and allowing water-tables to stay clean. In other words, wines without pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, chemical yeasts, chemical additions or fertilizers - wines that are made from grapes and nothing else.
Of course, but there is no reduction offered for not participating in the wine tastings.
This is a decision parents must make, keeping in mind that our tours are explicitly designed for adults and feature adult experiences (wine tasting), and detailed discussion. There are no discounts for children. The legal age for buying alcohol in France is eighteen, and for consumption, sixteen.
Our tours run rain or shine and so we suggest you prepare accordingly. Much of each tour will be outdoors and in the streets, though the wine tastings are of course in the shelter of a wine shop or wine bar. No cancellations due to weather are accepted.

We loved our bicycle tour through Paris. We saw so many sights that we might not have seen otherwise, plus the added bonus of learning the history of winemaking and vineyards in Paris. Geoffrey is extremely knowledgeable about French winemaking and a fun person to be around; we highly recommend this experience!

Enjoy a Food Tour in one of the most authentic and intense areas of Paris far from the main tourist attractions. Start the tour discovering the legendary Place de la Bastille which ... moreis located in the 12th arrondissement, on the Rive Droite (right bank) of Paris, few minutes from the Seine river and the Marais district. You will enjoy there typical Parisian breakfast before heading to the Aligre Market through the innumerable ( and almost secret) passages that give this district its unique character and that have made it a young, trendy and creative place.

The Aligre market is one of the best known of Parisian foodies. He operate every morning (except on Mondays) and its stallholders welcome you right on the streets of the Aligre square.

Actually the Aligre Market offers you two markets and two charming atmospheres. Under the covered market called Beauvau, around the old fountain , you will find French and Italian delicatessen, fresh fishes, poultry, dairy, cut flowers...
On the outdoor part, there is a curious mix between shouting « merchants des 4 saisons » (fruits sellers) and antique dealers, half of a food market, half of a flea market.

Around this market, the diversity of shops related to the art of good cooking impresses gourmets who are the most passionate about its diversity and richness.

You even will enjoy wine with cheese or delicatessen on an old wine barrel ! Or mingle with the locals and sip a hot chocolate or hot wine during the winter or an aperitif in summer.

You will feel like one of the locals as you chat to shopkeepers and taste local cheeses, cured meats and chocolate.

On this food tour you will also be able to learn from the history of this very special market but also from our entire country with the place of the Bastille, symbol of the French revolution.
