Enjoy scenic, sweeping views and the remarkable beauty of the Douro region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. On this tour, you will discover the vineyards where the grapes ... morefor Port wine are grown, the wineries that make it and of course taste the final product. But, as the Douro is more than Port, we'll take your taste buds on a culinary escapade with four gastronomic experiences and wine tastings, providing you with a full picture of the region.

Starting from the unconquered city of Porto we'll head East to the Douro. We will stop at Amarante and be treated to the famous architectural marvel that is the Saint Gonçalo's Church. We will then head to a Quinta (Wine Estate) near the village of Favaios. Surrounded by 1000 hectares of vines we'll get the chance to taste their renowned Moscatel wine.

Move on to the next stop: the historical Village of Pinhão. Here a Regional Lunch awaits us at a local restaurant, paired with Douro House Wine. You know what they say: if the Locals are here it must be good! After lunch, you'll have some free time to relax and have a look around the Village.

Then you'll be taken to one of the best viewpoints in the Douro Valley. This view has been considered one of the best views in the world by BBC, so you can´t miss it. Just next door we'll go into a family-run Estate where we'll taste the delicious Olive Oil they've been making for generations, but also some Douro DOC Wine.

Our last stop will be in Parada do Bispo, where we will finally savour Port Wine at a family-run Estate, after a visit to their production centre. We'll finish our tour of the world famous Douro region with a return to Porto.

The Mallorca’s tapas culture began during the 2008 financial crisis in Spain, La Crisis. Bars were not making enough sales on weekdays. So to increase sales, the local bar owners ... morecame up with the "Ruta Martiana" concept. It was all about reasonable prices and every Tuesday evening one drink ordered was accompanied with tapas. The tapas was made of a slice of bread with vegetables, fish, or meat toppings. The Ruta Martiana idea filled up the empty bars bringing old and new friends together as others sat on the lovely walkways and checking out different bars. It is a cherished Spanish ceremonial dinner that has been extended to the present day. It is a must try when visiting Mallorca.
On this Mallorca tapas tour, we will stroll the streets of Palma to sample the best tapas bars. Each bar has a custom-made tapas accompanied with either a glass of local wine, soft drink or a cold beer. As we continue with the tour, you can also try the biggest tortilla in Mallorca, some authentic Spanish jamón, fresh fish pinchos, or some grilled rib lambs.
If you are spoilt for choice, kindly ask your guide to advice on the most delicious delicacy.

After picking you up from our central meeting point at 8:30am, we'll drive 1h 45m to the incredibly beautiful and rugged Priorat wine region, with it's steep hills covered from top ... moreto bottom in craggy vines. First on the agenda is a visit the tiny village of Morera de Montsant to take in the stunning views at the foothills of Montsant. From here you will be able to get an overview of the entire region and your guide will give you a bit of an orientation. Afterwards, we'll duck into a small winery for a three-product tasting of terrific Priorat wines.

The next stop is the village of Gratallops, where we will head for a private tour and tasting at the renowned Clos Figueres winery and estate. This winery is run by Christopher Cannan, who is known for being one of the first in the region (along with Alvaro Palacios, Rene Barbier and Josep Lluis Perez) and is quite a charming character. Their wines are produced with their own grapes from old vines, without watering the vines and without using insecticides or any other synthetic products. While there, you'll enjoy a fantastic, traditional lunch in the winery.

After lunch, we'll drive to the tiny village of Porrera to meet with Paco Castillo-Serrano of the family-run Clos Dominic winery to tour their beautiful vineyards and taste their fabulous vintages. This old-vine vineyard (with many vines over 100 years old) was purchased by Paco and his wife, Dominic, in 1998 when they began to fulfill their dream of creating their own wines. To this day, they manage and harvest their vineyards with help only from family and friends. Once we finish our visit and tasting with Paco, we'll begin the drive back to Barcelona, arriving to the city around 7-8pm.

This price of this all-inclusive small group day trip is 190 EUR / person. Included in the price are transport in one of our modern touring vans, a very knowledgeable and personable, English-speaking guide, a great traditional lunch, and generous wine tastings at three fantastic wineries. This day trip is more expensive than our D.O. Penedes tour because the Priorat region is much more exclusive than other Catalan wine regions and as a result, the winery visits and meals are more expensive, as well. Winery visits and tours are always private and are nearly always attended and/or led by the wine maker. Additionally, as you may already know, the wines in this region are more expensive due to the extremely harsh growing conditions, low-yielding vines, and harvesting carried out by hand, which is very labor-intensive, but the wines...and the day...are well worth it!

Important
There will be a surcharge of 15 EUR / person if you end up being the only two clients on any non-private tour. Although this is not likely (especially between April and October), it would be necessary in order to cover guide fees and other costs that would normally be covered by having more than two clients on the tour. The positive side of the supplement is that you would end up getting a private tour at a fraction of the normal private touring price!

Looking for a day filled with Gothic and Modernist art, architecture, astounding rock formations, unbeatable views and exceptional food and wine tasting - look no further! ... more

Our Montserrat and Wine Country day tour is a well-rounded, all-inclusive, all-day experience for travelers of all ages and interest levels. The day begins with a guided visit at the impressive Monastery of Montserrat, located 50 minutes west of Barcelona and standing at an unexpected 725 mts. / 2378 ft. above sea level.

This tour consists of a 1000 years of legend, history and culture. Legend has it that in the 9th century, shepherds claimed to have spotted the image of the black Madonna in a cave on Montserrat. The original carving was discovered and removed by local religious figures, and the first church, followed by the monastery, were established in the 11th century. By the 12th century, news spread far and wide of the miracles of Montserrat. The monastic community settled, which prompted pilgrims from around the world to flock to the sacred mountain, as they still do today. The Monastery of the Virgin was founded in 1025, reconstructed various times, destroyed by Napoleon in 1811 and rebuilt in the late 19th and early 20th century by the Catalan Modernist masters, including Gaudí, himself. It is, in fact, one of the key inspirations to Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia.

The day includes: hearing the famous Boys’ Choir perform (most days), visiting the “Moreneta de Montserrat” (one of the black Madonnas of Europe) and a light walk to Santa Cova, where the black Madonna is said to have originally been found and rescued. We leave Montserrat and head over to enjoy a fantastic lunch of local Catalan country cuisine in a traditional restaurant at the base of Montserrat, followed by private field tour, guided exclusive visit and three-product wine and cava tasting at one of the premier, small, boutique vineyards in the Penedès wine region.

Montserrat and Wine Country Day Tour consist of only 2-8 guests and are guided by one of our fun, informative guides who give you a great, detailed explanation of the history of Montserrat, as well as the history of the region of Catalunya. The tour can easily be catered to both young and old, to those with or without specific religious interest, and to both wine connoisseurs and wine ‘enthusiasts’. A truly fantastic and authentic day trip outside of the city during your visit to Barcelona!
