On this Ultimate Foodie Tour in Franschhoek, spend the day discovering the art and science behind food & wine pairing. You will be immersed in excellent food and wine from some ... moreof the best estates in South Africa’s culinary capital, Franschhoek. Translated from Dutch as the “French corner,” French Huguenots settled in this breathtaking valley in 1688 and brought with them their French flair for cooking and lifestyle. This delightful region emanates the same food and wine driven approach to life, but with a uniquely South African twist.

Your foodie adventure begins at the famous gardens of Babylonstoren – a stunning winery and farm with magnificent gardens and beautifully preserved Cape Dutch architecture. Go on a stroll through the well-maintained gardens and learn about the fruit, herbs, nuts, spices and vegetables that are grown on the estate. Every one of the 300 varieties of plants in the garden is edible or has medicinal value. Additionally, all produce is grown as organically as possible and in a biologically sustainable manner. The fruit and vegetables from the garden are harvested all year round for use in two farm-to-fork restaurants.

After working up an appetite, head over to Moreson wine estate, a tranquil garden paradise located in the outskirts of Franschhoek. Sit on the shaded patio while you indulge in locally sourced and 3 handcrafted charcuteries paired with award winning Moreson wines. Each pairing strives to showcase characteristics of both the charcuterie and wine, and how they can enhance each other.

Your third stop takes you to a heritage estate in Franschhoek where you will learn about the art and science of food and wine pairing as you enjoy 4 canapés perfectly paired with local wines. Discover how flavors and texture in food and wine interact with each other to create a totally new tasting experience. Your specialist guide will explain how components like sugar, acid, alcohol and tannins of the wine can be accentuated or minimized when paired with certain foods.

End the day at a fantastic off the beaten track Franschhoek estate where you will discover the true essence of the South African foodie lifestyle. Take a seat on the deck overlooking the sprawling lawns and vineyards and enjoy a premium food and wine pairing. Taste estate-made biltong and blue cheese paired with Shiraz as well as Cape Ruby Port paired with handmade dark chocolate and hazelnut truffles. We promise you’ll never want to leave.

A full day private tour spent indulging in one of the oldest food pairings, cheese and wine! On this ultimate cheese lovers' tour you will try a variety of award-winning wine and traditional ... moreartisan South African cheese.

It all starts at the Anura Wine Farm tasting room, which is located on the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountain, with panoramic views overlooking vineyards, ponds and fynbos. This beautiful setting, along with fine wines and handcrafted cheeses, provides a memorable tasting experience. Taste Forest Hill cheeses like flavoured mountain cheese to brie, camembert and marisch paired with an array of Anura wines

Then your next stop is Fairview - the cheese capital of the wine lands. There’s a wide range of wines and cheeses available to choose from at the Fairview wine and cheese pairing, including a selection from the single vineyard range. This unique tasting includes a selection of 6 to 8 of Fairview’s Jersey milk and goat’s milk cheeses. Without a doubt, the most recognisable members of the Fairview team are the goats who call the famous tower their home. The tower was built in 1981 and it’s residents are well known around the winelands.

You are then off to Rhebokskloof Wine Estate, situated in the magnificent Paarl valley, 40 kilometres from Cape Town, and nestled between the granite hills of the Paarl Rock mountains. Your last stop on the ultimate cheese tour is Babylonstoren, for wine tasting and a beautiful walk through the amazing garden.
