Activity Overview
On this tour, you'll explore the Minho Region where the celebrated Vinhos Verdes (Green Wines) are made. This region comprised of magnificent sanctuaries and royal palaces is also renowned for classic dishes and smoked sausages along with the exquisite Vinho Verde. Accompany us on this remarkable tour and be amazed by the greenest region in Portugal with two gastronomic experiences and three wine tastings.

We begin our tour in Porto and head north towards the Vinho Verde region. Our first stopover is in the city of Viana Do Castelo, where we visit the noble Sanctuary of Santa Luzia. It is also a prominent vantage point of the entire region where you view the Lima River, Valley, and the surrounding mountains.

Now we proceed to the northernmost town of Portugal - Melgaço - where the Vinho Verde Alvarinho has one of its best expressions. Here we tour a very famous Wine Estate and taste the nectar. On the way back we stop by a typical restaurant to enjoy the region’s delicacies on a Regional Lunch.

Our next stop is Monção, whose lands are known to produce Vinho Verde Alvarinho. Here we explore another Wine Estate and taste a variety of Vinho Verde Alvarinho. While in the area we also explore the magnificent Brejoeira Palace.

On our way back to Porto we stop by Ponte de Lima to taste local dishes paired with some fine Vinho Verde.

Really enjoyed the tour - the wineries were a much more specialized, personal tour than you traditionallyget in the USA. Our guide was absolutely lovely. We basically got our own private tour of the Vinho Verderegion.
