Activity Overview
Enjoy scenic, sweeping views and the remarkable beauty of the Douro region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. On this tour, you will discover the vineyards where the grapes for Port wine are grown, the wineries that make it and of course taste the final product. But, as the Douro is more than Port, we'll take your taste buds on a culinary escapade with four gastronomic experiences and wine tastings, providing you with a full picture of the region.

Starting from the unconquered city of Porto we'll head East to the Douro. We will stop at Amarante and be treated to the famous architectural marvel that is the Saint Gonçalo's Church. We will then head to a Quinta (Wine Estate) near the village of Favaios. Surrounded by 1000 hectares of vines we'll get the chance to taste their renowned Moscatel wine.

Move on to the next stop: the historical Village of Pinhão. Here a Regional Lunch awaits us at a local restaurant, paired with Douro House Wine. You know what they say: if the Locals are here it must be good! After lunch, you'll have some free time to relax and have a look around the Village.

Then you'll be taken to one of the best viewpoints in the Douro Valley. This view has been considered one of the best views in the world by BBC, so you can´t miss it. Just next door we'll go into a family-run Estate where we'll taste the delicious Olive Oil they've been making for generations, but also some Douro DOC Wine.

Our last stop will be in Parada do Bispo, where we will finally savour Port Wine at a family-run Estate, after a visit to their production centre. We'll finish our tour of the world famous Douro region with a return to Porto.

Great Tour
My wife and I joined several others for a great, long day. Beatriz (I think I am spelling it right) was great. The tourwas focused on small providers which we really appreciated. The food was good, but not exactly a ‘gastronomic’experience. However, we came for the wines and to see the Douro region. We were not disappointed. The pickup and drop off made it even better. Would highly recommend.
Overall Experience
The tour was amazing thanks to our wonderful tour guides, Antonio and Beatriz! They were personable, knowledgeable and prompt. It was so nice to be picked up from our hotel and to experience the Douro Vally fromthe eyes of experts. We not only were able to see the vineyards and wineries but also was able to be immersedin the culture of the towns and learn about the extensive history of the area. We ... more truly believe this was the bestpart of our vacation and would highly recommend this tour to others!
Overall Experience
We traveled with Antonio yesterday to Douro and had a perfect day. He arranged tours with family runoperations which made the entire tour personal. We had three tastings and each visit was unique. The second tasting included a home made Portuguese lunchof a charcuterie with a tasty pumpkin jam, delicious seafood stew, omelette, and homemade desserts. All theports and wine we tasted were worthy of ... more immediate purchase and we had to restrain ourselves. Antonio picked us up on time at our hotel and was an expert driver maneuvering the narrow winding roads of thevalley. He was pleasant, thoughtful, and knowledgeable about wine and port making. This tour was much more than wine tasting. The first stop at Amarante was a treat. We had coffee and pastries and the walk through the quaint town was truly memorable.
Overall Experience
We spent an entire day with Antonio (driver/guide), visiting four wineries, an olive oil facility (historic) and awonderful lunch in one of the quintas. The Douro valley in the fall was beautiful, we had missed much of theharvest but there were still grapes on some vines and the fall colours had just started (late September). Antoniowas a very informative guide, with much insight as to the culture ... more and history of the region. It is clear he ispassionate about wine production and knowledge. We were just three participants, so the tour was very personaland all our questions were answered. There were many photo opportunities. It was a packed itinerary, but aquick stop in Amarante gave us the chance to see the church, and visit a cafe to have a coffee and locally madebaked goods. This was definitely a highlight of our trip to Portugal - this company, while I believe relatively new,is knowledgeable, interesting and fun. Recommended!
