Activity Overview
On this voyage, we'll go south of Porto to visit the Bairrada region, famous for its Roasted Suckling Pig, sweets and fine wines, like the Bairrada Sparkling Wine.

We'll start the day at Aveiro, Portugal's Venice, with its Moliceiros, the equivalent of the popular Venetian gondolas. These legendary sea vessels will take us across the Ria De Aveiro and drop us off at the Salinas. We will witness natural salt extraction - a 500-year-old art.

A visit to Costa Nova beach will give you a stunning ambience. Here, you will enjoy relaxing sea waves, warm, sandy beaches, and colourfully painted houses lined up close to the beach. A nice stroll around will get you ready for lunch.

It's time to taste the typical Bairrada delicacy - Bairrada Roasted Suckling Pig! For this, we will go to Mealhada, the Mecca of the suckling pig in Portugal. This is a unique opportunity to taste this dish at the most famous spot in the country, not to be missed.

Finally, we arrive to the Aliança Underground Museum, the home of local and foreign culture, where we will be treated to a taste of three (3) award-winning Sparkling Wines after a comprehensive visit to the exhibitions.

We then embark on our return trip to Porto. Are you ready for the trip? Book Now!

I really enjoyed my tour of the Aveiro area with my guide, Beatriz. A highlight was the Aliance UndergroundMuseum where we saw the Berarado Collection and tasted some fab sparkling wines. Eduardo, our guide, wasvery generous with the tastes! We had a wonderful lunch and lots more wine at the next stop, and an interestingtour of the salt flats really tested my balance after all that wine. LOL It was ... more great fun and really interesting. I wassurprised by this tour and would do it again.

Visiting the Douro during the harvesting season is mind-blowing; you’ll love to explore this remarkable wine region. Upon arriving to the wine estate, you’ll be welcomed ... moreand handed a hat, tobacconist scarf, a bucket and a pair of cutting scissors. Here, you’ll enjoy some mid-morning snacks as you interact with the workers and have the opportunity to pick some grapes. You will be invited into the huge wine tank where, with the master, you will be able to tread the grapes alongside the rest of the workers. It’s adventurous! It’s amazing to learn that people actually don their shorts and bare their feet when treading grapes.
